No. 1 machinery cast is a foundry grade of obsolete scrap comprised of large iron castings obtained from heavy machinery, including manufacturing, agricultural and construction equipment, cleaned and broken up to foundry size scrap. This definition is specified by the Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries and listed in their annual scrap specifications circular.
