Cast iron borings scrap metal prices

January 8, 2018

Cast iron borings can be used in a variety of different industrial applications. They can also be used to manufacture various other products. Iron borings, also commonly known as swarf, chips, fillings or shavings, are the particles of debris or waste resulting from the manufacturing process. Recycling cast iron boring is important due to safety and environmental reasons. Borings can cause serious injury if not handled correctly, as well as persisting in the environment for a long time before degrading.  After the borings are created, any liquids or oils are removed by using a centrifuge, which separates the liquid from the metal. This separation allows the material to be reclaimed and prepared for further treatment. Recycling these scraps are highly valued, as they generally return more profit than the cost of handling and transportation.

Cast iron borings, as specified by the Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries, are clean cast iron or malleable iron borings and drillings, which are free of steel turnings, scale, lumps or excessive oil.
